Azra Carstens was a learner from Floreat Primary School when she entered the Growsmart Literacy Competition in 2018. Her team made it to the second round of the competition, providing her with the opportunity to apply for a scholarship through a Growsmart Bursary Partner.
Azra applied for the Saili scholarship in 2019, which required her to write two academic tests to qualify. She earned a scholarship covering her fees for grades 8 and 9 and stationery and uniforms. Being awarded this bursary meant that Azra could not only attend her dream school but also lessen the financial burden on her parents.
She started her high school journey at South Peninsula High in 2020 and has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
