“From the day I entered the Growsmart competition, my life has changed completely,” says Dylan Afrika.
A Blue Downs Primary School learner at the time, Dylan participated in the Literacy Competition in 2019. His team did exceptionally well, and they finished second place overall.
As a result of his participation and success in Growsmart, he was given the opportunity to apply for high school scholarships and was successfully awarded the MAD Leadership Foundation scholarship. This covers his school fees, boarding house, uniform, stationery and piano lessons. Today, Dylan is a learner at Rondebosch Boys High School.
“I am very proud of myself, and I am very thankful towards the entire Growsmart team for making the future I have always wanted possible. Although my future is far from complete, I am looking forward to becoming a very successful business owner with the help of my current scholarship and making a big impact on the economic growth of South Africa,” he says.
